Achilles injury continues to bother Brown

CHICAGO Domonic Brown's breakout bigleague season appears to be in danger of
coming to a painful and premature end.

At the very least, it has become extremely painful.

After returning to the lineup Thursday in New York, Brown had to be removed
from Friday's 65 win over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field because of a nagging
injury to his right Achilles tendon. The injury initially forced him to leave
last Saturday's game against Arizona and he did not return to the starting
lineup until Thursday black?friday?uggs against the Mets in New York.

Brown popped out in the first inning Friday and was in obvious pain as he
limped toward first base. He struck out in the fourth and after he struggled to
run to first on an RBI groundout in the sixth, Ryne Sandberg removed his
leftfielder from the game.

"I'm going to check him out," Sandberg said. "Right from the getgo he was
feeling something and it wasn't allowing him to run properly to first base."

Brown acknowledged that the problem could linger.

"This is my first time dealing with an Achilles injury and I'm probably going
to feel it the rest of the year," he said. "I'm going to take my time with it
and see how I feel tomorrow when I come in. I'm on antiinflammatory [drugs] as
well. Hopefully, it can go away for a little bit."

Ryan Howard dealt with a severe Achilles injury that required surgery to
repair a torn tendon following the 2011 season, so Brown is obviously hoping to
avoid something similar.

"Hopefully, it doesn't get worse," Brown said. "But it's not something I'm
afraid of. When I'm out there, I'm going to continue to play 100 percent. But
it's an Achilles. It's a tough injury."Saturday is the last day players can be
traded and still be a part of their new team's postseason roster. One Phillies
player who could be dealt is Michael Young, a longtime veteran who doesn't
appear to fit into the team's plans beyond this year.

"I haven't really thought about it," Young said after a fourhit game that
included a gamewinning single in the ninth. "Over the last week or so, I've just
taken it upon myself to focus on the game I have in front of me."

Extra bases

Third baseman Cody Asche sat uggs?black?friday out his second straight game with a mild
right hamstring strain, but he may return to the lineup Saturday. . . . Gorman
Heimueller has been fired as the Phillies' roving minorleague pitching
coordinator, according to several reports.

Gorman Heimueller has been fired as the Phillies' roving minorleague pitching
coordinator, according to several reports.

Ok, Gorman has been in that position since 2002 and according to the way I
see it, under his watch we've had the likes of Cole Hamels, Gavin Floyd, Ryan
Madson, Brett Myers, Kyle Kendrick, JA Happ, amongst others I know I've missed
who've made solid contributions to the team over that period of time since 2002.
He's also responsible for the current crop of young arms that show great promise
for the future.

So, is this a story that I think is a big one that isn't getting it's just
due? http://www.flourtownswimclub.net/black-friday-uggs.html What
was the reasoning behind the firing of this long time pitching coordinator?
Aside from the core group of everyday players, we've been really lacking in that
great all around everyday player to come up and crack this lineup. They're
aren't any!

My sneaking suspicion tells me it smells like the LaMar departure stunk. I've
long advocated looking at the scouts and lower level personnel men, but a close
look at Heimueller shows he was doing a credible job with the pitchers coming
up. Maybe I'm off based here and I look forward to others who are better in the
know on this situation then I.

If black?friday?uggs?deals I have no clue, I have no problem
owning up to it! :>)

For the love of god, stop risking Brown by playing him. What do you have to
gain? Are these idiots going to push him until the thing just pops and he's
useless for a year and a half? You signed Utley and Kept Lee in hopes of oening
the window a little bit again for the next season or so. Why do that and then
risk one of your very few offensive weapons in meaningless games? Ohh and by the
way, send Michael Young to the Rangers for a bag of balls. Again, what's the
point of keeping this guy for meaningless games? He agreed to come here and give
up his notrade rights and it just didn't work out. Let him go and compete while
he still has a little lead in the pencil. (HTML deleted)
